Membership
The American Society of Black Neurosurgeons (ASBN) aims to improve public health by supporting Black Neurosurgeons and enriching the equity and integrity of neurosurgical care. We intend to accomplish this mission through complementary initiatives classified under recruitment, retention, faculty development, and equitable patient care. Education
ASBN is committed to providing various educational experiences for neurosurgeons at every level. Educational opportunities in neurosurgery and leadership will be provided for students, neurosurgeons-in-training, and practicing neurosurgeons. Members of ASBN will have access to in-person and virtual learning platforms which will serve as invaluable resources for fostering leadership development, personal growth, and enhanced clinical and surgical skills.
Mentoring
ASBN believes in the power of mentorship and connection.
Mentorship remains a crucial component of success and increasing diversity in the neurosurgery workforce. ASBN pairs students, neurosurgical residents, and practicing neurosurgeons with regionally located mentors for personalized career mentoring. The organization also sponsors larger networking events to ensure that all members gain access to a broader social networking community.
